Universal Remote Set-Up for Airtel Digital TV Remote

Ever wonder whether you can use a single remote to use both, your TV as well as your Set-top box? Yes, Now you can. Just use the following steps:

There are 5 basic functions which your new Airtel remote needs to learn about your TV
1. TV Power code
2. TV Mute code
3. AV code
4. TV VOL + code
5. TV VOL – code

Steps for Universal remote setup:

Step 1: Bring Airtel digital TV remote in learning mode. Press and hold ‘’OK + Numeric 2” key for 3 seconds. The LED blinks twice to indicate that your Airtel remote is ready to learn.

Explanation: When you keep your Airtel Digital TV remote and your TV remote in front of each other (preferably on a table or bed to keep them in front of each other), after pressing OK + '2' in STB remote, your remote will blink two times and Red LED will remain on after that. This means that your STB remote is now ready to learn.

Step 2 : Hold the source remote and Airtel remote in front of each other ( 3cm-6m apart).

Step 3: Press & release the key (First on Airtel remote and then on Source remote) which needs to be programmed in Airtel remote.
Example: Press and release the TV Power key on both remotes and release. The Airtel remote blinks twice to indicate a successful learning of ‘TV power code’.

Step 4: Now Press & release other keys ( on both remotes simultaneously) : Mute , AV, Vol +/-.

Step 5: Press "OK" on Airtel remote to store the new information about your TV. The LED will blink twice to indicate successful transfer to knowledge from your current TV remote to the new Airtel remote.

If the Airtel remote blinks four times, it means the learning failed. Go to Step 1 again.

Sometimes it takes two-three attempts to teach your STB remote all the functionality of your TV remote. Nevertheless, keep trying and you would be able to do it.

Dude, Its Change of Seasons!

So, I opened up my mail, and this message popped up on screen, “WINTER now, let’s play cricket”. Of course, the practice will make out team win in the next competition match. And, the change of season brings a special flavor to an otherwise plain statement just told, like, “Let’s play cricket”. It gives reader a mood of ‘chill’ mixed with ‘thrill’ of playing. The other day I received yet another mail, “Its rainy season now, let’s begin football practice”. The fun part of playing football in rainy season is that your grungy socks and rending clothes set you more-up than down. You are down to earth while your mind is up on the sky with football in air.
Alteration of seasons is vital in not just changing or provoking thoughts to initiate matters but is essential in a-lot-many things beyond beginning and before ending. So to say, some may plan to make a strict diet chart for this season or may want to make a tryst with his best girlfriend on her nth birthday. For those who are sick, you may just prefer saying that, “Dude, It’s just a change of season”, before prescribing a medicine. And in India, the seasons are uncountable. You might have heard people saying that it’s a season of marriage. A season of love, season of forgiving, season of fights, season of flowers, season of birds, season of party, season of togetherness and season of Parting.
For me, the season changed when I left VSRC in the last summer. May it look like I parted from my Alma mater, but the matter of fact is that, a part of me still beats the time I spent there and another part of me, remembers and cherishes the memories I have from IIT in general and VSRC in particular. In a hope, on a very special day, in a very special season, I will be able to get back to see the ripened memories all over Vikram Sarabhai Research... oops... Vikram Sarabhai Residential Complex. With New Year wishes flowing through, I expect more change of season’s mails hoping that each season brings a lot many happiness in all our lives.
Wishing you all, a very Happy New Year 2013.
